The Whirlwind of Passion: New Critical Perspectives on William Shakespeare is a combination of critical, linguistic, stylistic, translation and performance interpretations, providing a fresh insight into Shakespearean studies. It encompasses many different aspects of the Bard’s oeuvre, and thus explores various interpretative possibilities of the texts under scrutiny.

The freshness of this book also lies in the fact that it deals with comparative analyses of both Shakespeare and his contemporaries, as well as in the fact that it emphasises the playwright’s relevance today. All the contributors to this volume are distinguished scholars and academicians with extensive experience of teaching and writing on Shakespeare.

Petar Penda has a BA in English, and a MA and PhD in English and American Modernism, and is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Philology at the University of Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he also holds the position of Vice Dean for Science and Publishing. His main interests include Shakespeare, modernism, contemporary British and American poetry, Medieval English literature, and contemporary theoretical approaches to literary studies. His publications include a prefaced and bilingual book of translation, titled Eight Contemporary American Poets. He is on the editorial board of the literary journal Filolog (The Philologist), and is the author of T. S. Eliot: Poetical and Theoretical Contextualisation and the co-author of Medieval English Literature. As a Fulbright Scholar, he spent one semester at the Department of English and Comparative Literature of Columbia University, USA.
